Some say just tar and feather Perry, like they did this poor soul at Boston Tea Party. We believe even Rick Perry deserves a trial by his peers, the Texas Senate...on his impeachment.

Will the Anti-Craddick Revolt Help Impeach Perry?

I was there when Rep. Brian McCall (R-Plano) endorsed Rep. Jim Pitts (R-Waxahachie) for Speaker of the Texas House last March. The anti-Craddick revolt, I believe, is part of the seismic shift in Texas politics created by the caveman style politics of the Perry administration — and it’s lawful reaction to it. That’s when 1.3 million Texans voted independent for one of two independent candidates for Governor –

Strayhorn & Kinky. (We won’t let that “split” happen again!) In any case — the Texas electorate is still restless. We think that this situation spells for an “anything can happen” political environment over the next two years before the next legislative session. It could help the Impeach Perry movement — if our legislators listen up. Meanwhile, we need to take care of some business — the removal of Perry allies in next year’s election campaigns. Who do you want to see “get on down” Perry’s toll roads — and don’t forget to tell us how you feel (and why you feel!) about tricky Rick himself. — Linda Curtis, Independent Texans.

  1. Patricia A. Jones Says:

Three more reasons why Gov. Perry must go:
    (1) My home is Hill County where Interstate 35 splits to go east to Dallas, and west to Ft. Worth. Our county heavily depends on the revenue we receive from the traffic on I-35. There is no way we will survive IF TTC-35 bypasses us. Also, TTC-35 will eat up 5,200 acres of some of the best farm land in Texas.
    (2) Governor Perry agrees with many of us that we have an immigration problem here in Texas. His remedy to this is to build a wall or barrier between the Texas and Mexico border. He plans to take the Texas National Guard and the Texas Rangers off their regular duties and have them patrol this barrier. If this sounds as illogical to you as it does to me, throw in the Trans-Texas Corridor 35 which will usher in immigrants at 85mph. Why build a wall, when you already have plans in the works to breach it?
    (3) Governor Perry’s plan for the Trans-Texas Corridor 35 is the first leg in the integration of Mexico, the United States, and Canada into the North American Union. This, in itself, is unconstitutional. If Mexico and Canada want to join OUR SOVEREIGN NATION, they can do so by becoming the two newest of our fifty States. They will be subject to OUR laws and protections in the same way all our other States are.

“There are no hereditary kings in America and no powers not created by the Constitution.”
-U. S. District Judge Anna Diggs Taylor-

Governor Rick Perry must be forced to take off his crown, and he must be unseated from his throne. With his impeachment, we will be sending a clear, loud message that he is not fit for public service…anywhere.

Governor Rick Perry has shown time and time again that he does not work or care to listen to his constituents here in our great state of Texas. Governor Perry was voted in by the very people that he is now trying to evict out of their homes and off of their lands. He has been shown over and over that Texans are not in favor of the Texas Trans Corridor Super HWY. It is time that the good people of Texas lift these special interest and greedy officials up by their boot straps and kick them out of the very office that the citizens voted them into, beginning with Mr. “eminent domain” aka Rick Perry. Rick Perry once publicly stated that he rules the state of Texas 100% of the time. Texas voters are here to tell Mr.Perry that his days of ruling Texans for his own unethical interests and money schemes are limited and are just about over. Remember Mr. Perry that the voters elected a governor… not a King. It is time that the citizens of Texas IMPEACH Governor Rick Perry NOW!

  3. sandra kenley Says:

I agree with Pat; he thinks he is the King of Texas. I had my first misgivings when he was on the news being such a jerk to the police when stopped for speeding. Then I learned of the selling or attempt to sell land in our state parks. Then came the corridor, which I feel is just a prelude to or start of the loss of sovereignty and the beginning of the North American Union. He is a globalist and a shill for the president. He has no clue how passionate Texans are about Texas and I honestly believe he thinks we are proud of him. He does not sense the groundswell of rage that is building faster and faster as more Texans learn what he is up to. Who knows what went on at the the bilderberg conference and what may be afoot now that we don’t yet know. There is a rumor that he has a large offshore bank account funded by Centra; I don’t know if this is true but I have heard it from several sources and I would not be surprised. His parents live on a farm or ranch near Abilene; I wonder if he would be okay with it being taken from them by emminent domain. He is a very dangerous man to have at the helm of our state. He should be impeachded as soon as possible but I feel he should also be tried for treason.

  4. Milton Smith Says:

Perry should be booted before he does any more damage. The redistricting from my point of view was to remove one of the best Congressmen we have had. I believe it was illegal and disenfranchized
many voters. I am opposed to the Trans-Texas Corridor plan. It does nothing to elimanate the congestion around the large cities and I believe that is where the highway infrastructure needs the most attention.

  5. michael white Says:

People like to talk about the weather and politics. Every now and then a storm come through that people cannot deny. Fortunately, the Texas Constitution- with its strict limitations and constrictions on concentrated political and personal power (and provisions for impeachment)- was made with someone like Perry in mind. Narcisists are always the most dangerous type of people. Bad apple politicians used to be lynched in the 18th century, then tarred & feathered in the 19th century… finally just impeached (and returned to their lucrative private sector) by the time of Pa Feguson nine decades ago. Nowadays we just sign an internet petition and hope more good folks than paid spooks take notice. Nonetheless, we must be patient in our civic duty. We will get the bovine-brained narcisist back on the street before he gets our daughers and nieces.

  6. Glenda Hawthorne Says:

Here are two more reasons to impeach Perry. 1) The TYC scandal, 2) The abuse and neglect reported in the state schools for the
mentally handicapped. This shows his complete lack of care and concern for this state’s most vulernable citizens. “Are there no
prisons? Are there no workhouses?” Let’s just lock ‘em up, turn off the lights and forget about ‘em!

Thanks for lending this comment, Glenda. And, yes, these are good reasons to impeach Rick. — Linda Curtis, Independent Texans.

  7. Cynthia Vertrees Says:

The retired teachers of Texas have not had an increase in their pensions since President Bush was Governor of the Great State of Texas. The retired teachers went to Austin a couple of years ago and Perry totally ignored us. We were there to encourage the legislature to fund the retirement system to what they should have been doing for the last 6 years. They haven’t been doing that and now we were promised a 13th one time check to the retirees and Perry passed the bill, knowing they didn’t have the money to fund it and now we are waiting to see if we even get a one time check from the state. The Teachers Association has to have a meeting to determine if there is enough money there to give us the 13th check. Seems to me they should have funded it before passing something that probably won’t fly. In the mean time Perry is traveling all over the world, spending our tax money and we can’t afford to go much of anywhere because of the increase in the cost of gas and everything else. I suspect that Perry is posturing to run for President and if he does I will be first in line to work against him and our local respresentatives that did ABSOLUTELY NOTHING TO HELP GET THE RETIRED TEACHERS AND INCREASE IN THEIR PENSIONS!!!!!!!!!!!!!

a report of sorts on the DRP.

What I have discovered is that the entire fate of Texas is connected to
the role that the Surcharge Program. This is because the money from the
unconstitutional program is earmarked for the Tran-Texas Corridor, which
is a strategic segment of what is to become a super corridor that spans

I am hoping to educate the public of this extremely unconstitutional law.
The state is suspending people’s license over not paying an excessive

You guys have missed one of the most important reasons calling for the impeachment of Perry. He went to a recent TRILATERAL meeting in Europe to speak to them at Texas tax-payers expense. This proves he is guilty of treason, because he gets his marching orders from them to dissolve the USA by helping their effort to create a Noth American Union of Mexico, U.S. and Canada which will cause our loss of sovereignty, play into the hands of the Bush Administration’s efforts to erase our borders and continue on with NAFTA which has for the last twelve years caused our trade deficit to get worse each year. NAFTA’S so called “free trade” is not “fair trade.” Our industrial base is being eroded away by their control, outsourceing and greed. They are also calling this the SPP, Security and Prosperity Partnership. These globalists are traitor’s to our middle class, our United States Republic and to our Constitution. These elitists will rule us from foreign shores by foreign bureaucrats and international courts and this will stiff our laws, the Constitution, the Bill of Rights, liberty, freedom and right to run our own country. The European countries have had their sovereignty stolen by the European Union. These international corporations and bankers want to control our nation as well. They will raise taxes even higher, and we will have even more taxation without representation. We will lose our American heritage and culture. Perry is in lockstep with the Bush Administration and therefore guilty of this organized crime being perpetrated on the United States. He and they must be stopped! This is what the New World Order is all about.

  12. Pamela Hobbs Says:

I have been calling and writing and e mailing Perry’s office for 3 years, I have tried to make an appointment with his office, and Im always turned away.
I bought my very first home, and the home builder leases the land and does not own the land, my deed is’nt worth the paper its printed on, we’ll never own this land and or home, as hundreds like us have found out.
We have been trying to get some one to listen to us and show our paper work to for over three years.
And Perry refuses to do anytthing about it.
The home builder is Darrell R. Hall, even Perry said that this man has been in court so many times over the same issues, the courts are tired of dealing with him, so that means Perry knows all about his dirty dealing in east Texas and refuses to do anything about it.
I wonder how much Perry is getting paid to turn his head away from these issues in east Texas.

  13. Lee Cooper Says:

I wonder how many American citizens have to die at the hands of illegal criminals in Texas, before Perry actually does something about it?
Illegal immigration is an important issue on todays table, and the laws in Texas are not being inforced.
To be in this country illegaly is a felony.
But Texas seems to cater to the illegals.
And now Perry wants to give millions to his so called highway plan.
    hell no.
    Texans pay enough in taxes.
Texans are paying for illegals welfare, education, food, houses, vehicles, and they don’t pay taxes, we do.
    Boot his sorry butt out.

This is Linda Curtis, Independent Texans, adding a comment to this post. We we do not censor comments on this blog — other than profanity. But I do want to comment on what Mr. Cooper has said. The issue of immigration is a complex issue that is being manipulated by both parties, and in particular, the Republican Party, to — in this writer’s opinion — have us all fighting with one another while the Rick Perry’s of the world get over on us ALL. Therefore, we have stayed out of this one. We at Independent Texans are committed to building a movement to overthrow corruption on both sides of the border with Mexico, and to create a more pro-democratic (not to be confused with the Democratic Party) environment to uplift the people on both sides of the border. This will go a long way towards solving the problems that the immigration fight covers over. Besides that, we believe the Trans-Texas Corridor will do more to exacerbate the immigration problem in Texas and there are millions of people on both sides of the border who do not want the Corridor. If we build on that, we will be much more effective and less vulnerable to political manipulation by either party–Linda Curtis, Independent Texans

  14. Donna Broussard Says:

What about CHIP? He cut some 100,000+ children off health insurance and lost millions of federal matching funds that would have come to Texas. He is very proud that we are 50th in providing healthcare for the underinsured and non-insured. The border and Perry is a joke. He doesn’t care about immigration. He is trying to bring more access to Texas for his rich buddies. The invasion of the parental responsibility with his attempt to make 6th grade girls take the shots is the scarest of all. That is definitely “1984′….big brother controlling every segment of our lives. Is he working with Hillary behind the scenes? I agree with each of the entries on this BLOG. We have a mess and Perry MUST go. Let me know how I can help.

  15. Thomas Williams Says:

    Perry’s Veto against educators

In his June veto message, Perry wrote that Texas “started this legislative session with the largest projected surplus in state history.” He then struck $154 million in health insurance funding for community colleges from the state budget because, he said, the state shouldn’t be footing the costs of benefits for employees whose salaries are funded by local property taxes. Citing a budget rider, or legislative directive, consistent with his argument, the governor berated community colleges for falsifying appropriations requests and willfully violating the rider, “using millions of state dollars annually to pay the benefits of non-state-paid employees.” The veto affected 2009 funding (Texas runs on a two-year budget cycle), and left the identical appropriation in 2008 intact.

Community college leaders erupted in outrage and pointed to budget cuts and tuition and property tax increases that would surely follow. So did many legislators who approved the initial appropriation. “The Legislature knowingly funded community colleges fully so they could pay those insurance costs for their personnel,” State Sen. Judith Zaffirini, chair of the Senate Higher Education Subcommittee and vice chair of the Senate Finance Committee, says. Referencing qualifying language in the budget rider that she argues grants the Texas Legislature authority to fund benefits for locally salaried employees with state funds if elected representatives so choose to, she expresses confidence the money will be restored to the community colleges by the power of the Legislative Budget Board this fall. “The $154 million is there, it’s available, and now it’s a matter of finding the best solution. We will find a way to return that money,” Zaffirini says.

While the Legislative Budget Board has the power to restore the funding during the period between legislative sessions, it can only do so with the governor’s okay.

  16. Logic and Reason Says:

Change is inevitable. Nothing stays the same forever. And you know what, sometimes change doesn’t immediately benefit everyone. You’re as foolish as this whole notion if you believe that everyone can benefit the same from every change. You are even more foolish if you think keeping things the same is always beneficial to everyone. The fact is, nothing can stay the same. Change is inevitable, and unfortunately, not everyone benefits. It’s a fact of life. Instead of looking at what opportunities can come from change, people like you instead choose to wallow in what you perceive to be losses.

Seriously, if you’re going to make attempts at impeaching a politician in the information age, you will need far more than inflammatory rhetoric and accusations. Many of your charges are so skewed and off base that it’s hard to believe them. I have challenged government offices before. Inciting a grassroots campaign also requires facts about what you’re charging. For the love of god, provide citations of publications in the mainstream press, avoid special interest groups of your own, and remember that sensationalism works against you.

My family is for the TTC. Have you driven on I-35 lately? Really!? How often do you have to travel this mess of a highway? My life requires that I travel frequently between San Antonio and to an area just north of Austin. Unfortunately, there aren’t a lot of alternatives. I can’t economically take airplanes. US-281 sucks. The toll roads around Austin are OK, but eventually, you have to get back on the interstate. The fact is that our interstate highway system is broken. It’s broken all over the country. Not just on I-35 in Texas, but it is certainly one of the worst. Cars are more a part of life than ever before and yet, we have not had a transportation infrastructure able to grow with the demands of the people requiring transportation. All those cheap goods you so fondly desire at the local Wal-Mart wouldn’t exist if they couldn’t be shipped cheaply by truck on our country’s roads. Americans are demanding more Just In Time (JIT) methods of inventory. Life is all about compromises. The fact is that things have already changed, forced by market systems of supply and demand, and has put much of this burden on our roads. Doing nothing won’t work here! Adding lanes means taking land, somewhere, to do it. Pause for a moment and think about it, because it looks like you are not thinking clearly right now. What is the solution? Stop telling me what’s wrong and start using your energy to think of ways of making things better. Complaining about Rick Perry doesn’t make that happen.

What I *really* want from my Texas government is a high-speed rail system. I want more mass-transit. Unfortunately, there is no room on current lands to build this. It’s people like you who prevent this from moving forward. Imagine being able to go from San Antonio to Houston in 1 hour. Or Dallas to Houston in 2 hours. Or, in my case, San Antonio to Austin in 30 minutes! I need to travel, and I need to travel more efficiently than I do today. There are thousands, if not hundreds of thousands, like me. Rick Perry is the first governor of this state who is thinking outside of the box about making transportation more efficient and effective and moving the goods our country desires. Our country’s transportation system needs to be improved. There is no way around that. I have be involved in the debate about our transportation infrastructure for 20 years and the iron is hot to be the first state in the US that is willing to do something about it. This isolationism and traditionalism you seek makes us backwards and ill prepared to make marked improvements in our future. Take a look around. The rest of the world is moving forward, economies are broken all over the United States. We waste precious fuel idling on our clogged highways, unable to move to our desired destinations in a decent time, and it’s people like you that hold us back.

Until you can provide better information to support your claims, you are no more than spit in the ocean. Sensationalism and rhetoric will get you no where. Think. Research. Make intelligent arguments. You’re playing with fire, but who are you looking to burn? You think everyone is on your side. You only know what it is you allow your mind to see. What is it I’m seeing? Are my wants and needs from our state any less than yours? Will you take this opportunity to moderate my words, erase my arguments from your site to protect your own? When do my needs matter? Who are you trying to protect? Who wins by taking your words to heart? Or is it just about you?

My name is Nathan. I live in San Antonio. Your words are not my words.

  17. Mary Lee Berger Says:

Everything is ‘mandatory’ with Gov. Perry! First reason he has to go: He and his gang are forcing ‘water districts’ down our throat to “protect” our water, in reality, he wants every drop of water, surface (which is) and underground water under the control of the State Government at taxpayer’s expense. Our water is now protected by individual landowner’s and we don’t need his help or another layer of bureaucracy by which to spend tax money. We must convince our state Congress to repeal the old English “Rule of Capture” and instate the “Rule of Reasonable Use”. We do NOT need these water districts. Once voted in, there is no way, at present, to dissolve it. Perry’s ultimate plan is to steal all underground water and pipe it to Mexico when his Trans-Texas Corridor is underway. Right now, he can do anything with surface water as he pleases now, but cannot touch the underground aquafiers until the water district is set up.
Second reason, he is for the National Animal Identification System (NAIS), which has passed the US House as a Mandatory law. It must pass the Senate now. Everyon; call your Senator and ask them to vote against the NAIS! Gov. Perry states in his letter to me “NAIS is a federal program to prepare for any act of terrorism on our food supply and to avoid disruption of free and fair trade.” NAIS includes ‘every’ animal in America, including pets. I cannot see how a microchip implanted in my cat will safeguard America against terrorism. If you do not comply, there is a $1,000.00 a day fine, per animal, waiting for you. Is this Socialism, Communism or Fascism? Take your pick! What is happening to the Democracy of the people under the Repubic of our Constitution?

  18. Tamara Says:

Regardless of how you feel about the TTC, we should all be allowed to vote on it!!

  19. Cynthia Says:

While billions of unspent dollars sit in state accounts, my son has to bring home photocopied math assignments because there are not enough books for each student. I spend hundreds of dollars annually on car repairs because of the sad state of Texas roads. The threat of the Trans-Texas Corridor coming through or even near Johnson County is enough to scare me clear to Oklahoma. Illegal immigration? Don’t even start. We must get rid of Governer Crooked-as-a-dog’s-hind-leg Perry immediately, before further damage is done to the state I call home. PS - I voted for Grandma.

Who is the individual who decided that we needed a law to prevent home owners from being able to pull up the tax records from HCAD to protest their property taxes effectively.

Who is the person who decided that we need to BUY THE OFFENDING AUTOMOBILES from people who make less than $61000. annually when their cars are found to be polluters? Please - if you make anywhere near $61,000 a year, you can drive a car that does not belch smoke.

I love it when liberals are so mad they really don’t know who to blame. This is such a joke. Thanks to LOGIC and REASON for a little practical sense.

Freedom of speech is great. I respect your right to throw baseless accusations. In fact, it is very entertaining.

  22. Bill D. Berger Says:

I see a list of complaints about good ol’ boy politics, same as they’ve been played for 150 years. I don’t see any actual crimes that Perry has participated in while in office. If you have evidence of crimes that Perry has committed, I suggest you contact law enforcement.

    Dear Bill:

If you read the section on the impeachment process, it states that the legislature (including Congress) has never defined “high crimes and misdemeanors”, so it’s really up to the legislature to decide whether the accused has stepped over a line to warrant impeachment. Remember Bill Clinton? Don’t you remember the debate about whether lying about a sexual affair rose to the level of a “high crime or misdeamenor”? Obviously, the decision was that it did. How about Rick Perry lying — over and over again — lying about what the Trans-Texas Corridor was going to cost the public? What about hiding financial details of a contract he signed with CINTRA to develop the Corridor? If a trial were to happen, the Texas Senate would have the subpoena power needed to answer questions that have been raised over the last 5 years that the State Auditor hasn’t been able to answer because even he couldn’t get these records! — Linda Curtis

  23. GaryFSBO Says:

SB810 – Broker Minimum Service - a little known amendment was added to this bill which limits the homeowners ability to sell/negotiate the sale of their home without the use of a realtor. Thus increasing the homeowners cost of selling a home. In the past discount brokers such as myself would give the homeowners the ability to put their home on the local MLS. The homeowner would have the ability to choose the level of service they wanted IE – pricing, marketing, negotiations, contracts. This new law mandates that we (The Broker) must now provide negotiation/contract assistance which we charge for. Take for example a UT professor of real estate law no longer has the choice of negotiating for himself if he is listed with a broker on the MLS.

This Bill was brought about by the industry in the name of the consumer’s best interest. However there were zero concerns brought about by any homeowners to the Texas Real Estate Commission. In essence the real estate industry mainly The Texas Association of Realtors pushed this law through to protect their own interest. In fact The Department of Justice and The Federal Trade Commission both contacted Perry’s office and urged him not to sign the bill. The FTC and DOJ both proclaimed that this bill was not in the interest of the public and would only serve to limit competition and increase costs of selling to the homeowners. Nonetheless Perry succumbed to the 70,000 strong realtor lobby and signed the bill.

Adding fuel to my Perry Dislike – I am a small business owner whose franchise tax is quadrupling AND my property is going up again thanks to an aggressive Harris County appraisal district.

Perry has upheld the unique right of Texas Criminals to Civilly Sue victims of crime in Ciovil Courts with full rights of discovery, depositions, arbitration, and monitary settlements for rape,
theft, smuggling drugs, smuggling merchandise, as well as exemption from Federal Enforcement of Federal Crimes because of a Federal Policy of” non assistance when there is a dispute between private parties and a Texas Lawyer.” It is a “get out of Jail free gambit.” Perry is soft on Crime and has violated his Oath of Office.” Telling the truth in Texas is an option not a requirement for public officials. Perry will run again, and Texans will put him back in power, because he has “nice hair.” Duh….. Perry is soft on crime, makes Texas the Drug hub for USA

When will people make Drug crimes equal for all and stop the dual enforcement for the rich as an illness and a crime for the poor? In Texas, lawyers, doctors, foot ball players, professional athletes, the wealthy are ill and seldom go to jail if ever. But if the user is a poor man, middle class brute, then he or she is a criminal. Take the profit out of the crime. Do not make it legal, no do what Switzerland, England, and many European Countries do, take the drug pharmacy out of the street and out of the hands of pushers, gangs, and organized crime. Place recovery standards in hospitals under the supervision of MD’s. Oh, while we are at it, do attorneys get drug tested when they practice law in Federal Courts? or State Courts? How can they be “officers of the Court” and be abusers of illegal drugs? Are juries drug tested? Judges? Not in Texas under Perry….. Duh…
their money helps him get elected….. Good O’le Perry, the Best Governor money can buy.
As for Property Taxes: Texas is unique in how it structures County Taxing Authorities. Even if the appraisers took the side of all taxpayers and did not want increases in property values, they would still be out voted, because the Appraisers get two votes against those who benefit from additional funds. Why the receivers get an equal vote against the payers is a joke. The solution is to have the Property Appraisers be elected, require knowledge of Federal Guidelines, USPAP, and do not allow Cities to appoint these Appraisers or pay them, as it becomes a conflict of interest for those who can gain from higher appraisals to select the Appraisers. Here is a question to ponder, does your local County Appraisal district value the properties of the City employees the same as citizens. They give special rates to Dallas City Employees, Council members, and Property Inspectors. Some of these properties have appreciated up to $50 in five years while next door neighbors with the same zoning have doubled by thousands. Is this a way to save funds and keep paying low wages? Is it fair? Well when you have the POWER to recall honest appraisers and replace them with cronies, well we get what we pay for and for that I say
    Duh.. Another Perry wonder?
Slavery was an issue for the Civil War. But, today Perry has squandered State Funds to do what the Feds should be doing, wink, wink, wink. God forbid if our Governor Perry would make it hard to get another housekeeper, maid, or cheap laborer who is not a citizen, after all Texas is a “Right to Work State” which includes slaves from other countries. Yes, Massa Perry, you done us right, got us some beaners to do step and fetchit. You is a good boss. You is tha Man.

It is definitely a “high crime” and not a “misdeamenor” that Mr. 39% unconscientiously vetoed so many bills that were not only approved overwhelmingly by the Texas Legislature but were supported in public hearings by many who testified for the legislation. Two glaring examples are: 1) the bills that were submitted as a result of the Corona Hearing on March 1, where about 798 out of 800 people testified against practically every aspect of the Trans-Texas Corridor and 2) the bill that would have returned property rights back to the People of Texas by limiting imminent domain powers by the State to take YOUR land for “the greater good.” The greater good term is a joke. Just take a look at the newest and SHORTEST Farm to Market Road in Texas. It is in Sealy (Austin County). It is 2.2 miles long and connects I-10 with FM3013. Property was taken via imminent doman, of course. Funny thing is that it starts and ends at two huge industries–Wal-Mart Distribution Center and the company with a government contract to supply ATVs (was previously Stewart & Stevenson). Yes, I demand our legislatures take up this action and get Mr. 39% out of the governor’s mansion before he even has a chance to begin his next re-election campaign, which will probably be called: The Pap Smear Campaign!

It’s only a matter of time and all will see the proof that Perry is corrupt.

  33. KEITH Says:

Agreed Rick Perry has to go. We have to bring the rule of law back to the United States. It seems we are now overrun with liars and thieves. What happened to following the Constitution and the principles that it sets out? Where is the honesty and integrity in the people that we elect to the highest offices? If he wasn’t a candidate for President in 2008 I’d say Dr Ron Paul would make a great Governor. But the country needs him it is Texas loss. Here is why I’ll vote for Ron Paul for President of the United States:
Freeport’s own Ron Paul for President 2008.
Congressman Ron Paul is the leading advocate for freedom in our nation’s capital. As a member of the U.S. House of Representatives, Dr. Paul tirelessly works for limited constitutional government, low taxes, free markets, and a return to sound monetary policies. He is known among his congressional colleagues and his constituents for his consistent voting record. Dr. Paul never votes for legislation unless the proposed measure is expressly authorized by the Constitution. In the words of former Treasury Secretary William Simon, Dr. Paul is the “one exception to the Gang of 535” on Capitol Hill.
Ron Paul was born and raised in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. He graduated from Gettysburg College and the Duke University School of Medicine, before proudly serving as a flight surgeon in the U.S. Air Force during the 1960s. He and his wife Carol moved to Texas in 1968, where he began his medical practice in Brazoria County. As a specialist in obstetrics/gynecology, Dr. Paul has delivered more than 4,000 babies. He and Carol, who reside in Lake Jackson, Texas, are the proud parents of five children and have 17 grandchildren.
While serving in Congress during the late 1970s and early 1980s, Dr. Paul’s limited-government ideals were not popular in Washington. In 1976, he was one of only four Republican congressmen to endorse Ronald Reagan for president.
During that time, Congressman Paul served on the House Banking committee, where he was a strong advocate for sound monetary policy and an outspoken critic of the Federal Reserve’s inflationary measures. He was an unwavering advocate of pro-life and pro-family values. Dr. Paul consistently voted to lower or abolish federal taxes, spending and regulation, and used his House seat to actively promote the return of government to its proper constitutional levels. In 1984, he voluntarily relinquished his House seat and returned to his medical practice.
Dr. Paul returned to Congress in 1997 to represent the 14th congressional district of Texas. He presently serves on the House Committee on Financial Services and the House Committee on Foreign Affairs. He continues to advocate a dramatic reduction in the size of the federal government and a return to constitutional principles.
Congressman Paul’s consistent voting record prompted one of his congressional colleagues to say, “Ron Paul personifies the Founding Fathers’ ideal of the citizen-statesman. He makes it clear that his principles will never be compromised, and they never are.” Another colleague observed, “There are few people in public life who, through thick and thin, rain or shine, stick to their principles. Ron Paul is one of those few.”
Brief Overview of Congressman Paul’s Record:
He has never voted to raise taxes.
He has never voted for an unbalanced budget.
He has never voted for a federal restriction on gun ownership.
He has never voted to raise congressional pay.
He has never taken a government-paid junket.
He has never voted to increase the power of the executive branch.
He voted against the Patriot Act.
He voted against regulating the Internet.
He voted against the Iraq war. He does not participate in the lucrative congressional pension program.
He returns a portion of his annual congressional office budget to the U.S. treasury every year.
Congressman Paul introduces numerous pieces of substantive legislation each year, probably more than any single member of Congress

  34. Jeffrey Says:

Perry is the protégé of King George the W. Neither one of them should have been elected to any position of power. Those of you who voted for these two should hang your head in shame. It’s time to begin THINKING when you go to the polls and forget those ridiculous partisan slogans that tug at your heart, fears and hatreds. You’re not buying a box of cereal when you vote; if you don’t know what a candidate stands for stay home and let those of us who are informed make the decisions. This is serious business!
This man just vetoed insurance coverage for thousands of community college employees. Do you know where the money will come from? YOUR POCKET! Community colleges will be forced to raise tuition (know anyone going to a community college?), raise your local property taxes (know anyone who owns a home?) or BOTH. Do you get it? Perry’s vindictive decisions = $$$ from YOUR pockets.
He must go before he can do any more damage.

In Mexico for trade talks, Perry blasts immigration policies

    By DUDLEY ALTHAUS
Copyright 2007 Houston Chronicle Mexico City Bureau

MEXICO CITY — Leading a large delegation of Texas executives trying to drum up business in Mexico, Gov. Rick Perry on Tuesday criticized the U.S. Congress for failing to pass an immigration bill that would legalize millions of workers.

“I don’t think this is that difficult an issue if Congress would have the maturity to sit down and really discuss it and cut out all the mean rhetoric,” Perry said during a break in the third day of meetings with Mexican officials and business executives.

“We need those individuals to continue to grow our economy,” he said of Texas’ undocumented workers, most of whom hail from Mexico. “The vast, vast majority of those individuals want to come and work and take care of their families.”

Perry made the remarks in Mexico City, where immigration is nearly as big a hot-button issue as it is in Washington. He spoke at a press conference shortly before meeting with President Felipe Calderon who, like past Mexican presidents, has lobbied for changes in U.S. immigration law that would include a guest-worker program.

Perry’s statements seemed to put him at odds with many in the Republican Party’s base who regarded the immigration overhaul bill that collapsed in the Senate in June as nothing more than an amnesty for illegal immigrants.

Perry said he supports a system that would temporarily legalize foreign workers, while making sure they pay taxes and obey the law.

Such a system, Perry said, would allow for a “free flow of individuals between these countries who want to work, who want to be an asset to our country and to Mexico.”

Echoing a growing number of other Republican politicians, Perry attributed the “mean” tone of the immigration debate to the media.

“There have always been — whether you were African-American, or Hispanic, or for that matter some other ethnic group — people who are mean and will make mean statements. That’s nothing new in the world we live in.”

Perry tried to distinguish between overhauling the nation’s immigration laws and enforcing security on the state’s border with Mexico.

Earlier this year, he signed into law a $100 million spending bill designed to enhance border security. And last year he launched an effort to place cameras at remote border crossings. That effort has not succeeded.

“Border security and immigration are two different things,” Perry said Tuesday. “We know how to deal with border security. You don’t deal with it by building a fence, You do it by putting boots on the ground … using the technology available … and by coordinating with state, local and federal officials.”

Perry and other state officials brought to Mexico City about 150 Texas business executives — including many from Houston — who were looking for new deals south of the Rio Grande in energy and other industries.

“It’s a little early, frankly, to say we have any contracts signed,” Perry said.

For years, Texas companies have provided drilling, pipeline installation and other services for Mexico’s petroleum and electricity industries, which are controlled by government monopolies.

Though Mexico’s Congress is debating energy reforms, the sort of sweeping privatization favored by many foreign investors is unlikely.

Given those limitations, Texas executives on this trip focused on the possibilities for developing wind power and other alternative energy sources in Mexico, Perry said.

“We will work within any of the parameters we are given,” he said.

Back in the days when this country had real leaders, a Mayor who did not stay on the scene of a fire until it was out, might as well not bother to run for re-election! However, in today’s USA a Governor can remain in his Austin Mansion, while half of the Panhandle is ablaze, and entertain the thought of running again!

This incident also points out the fact that local news organizations that are part of giant media conglomerates do not serve our need to know what is going on in our state. On that Sunday evening I was listening to Matt Drudge on WBAP(Dallas) when a truck driver called in to Matt’s radio program to tell him what was going on in our state. (The primary purpose of the truck driver’s call was to offer cudoes to a fellow driver who gave his credit card to a fireman who was experiencing difficulty getting authorization to re-fuel his vehicle to return to the fire.) In an emergency, crazy things like that happen, that is why our fore-fathers held public officials to accout when they fail to rush to the scene of an emergency!

Let’s give Governor Perry a taste of the “good old days”!

  38. Eric Khouser Says:

What Maria said about George Bush said was really moronistic! It is quite funny how Bush is to blame for many things and “BLOOD ON HIS HANDS” GIVE ME A BREAK LADY!! There were CIA agents and FBI agents in Iraq 2 years before Bush was in OFFICE! So please shut up with your false accusations! If you do not like our dear president, then go live in Canada! Go overseas where your freedom will be very limited. Oh you think CLINTON was so innocent? HAHA, he had more blood on his hands behind close doors. 40. Jerry Martin Says:

What democrat will address and solve this problem?
Virginia’s attorney general yesterday sent a letter to President Bush and Democratic leaders on Capitol Hill demanding they “take immediate action to address the issue of illegal immigration” to ease the financial and public safety burdens being shouldered by states. “The borders are not yet secure, the administration and enforcement of the immigration system is cumbersome and ineffective, and the public safety problems caused by criminal aliens are growing,” Robert F. McDonnell wrote in a five-page letter to the president, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid. “This is unacceptable.” Mr. McDonnell, a Republican, urged the president to call a special session of Congress if they cannot resolve the issue during the regular session. He said a lack of money and manpower has led to federal immigration laws not being enforced.

How about capping damages in lawsuits in malprcatice cases? There is no accountability any more…Legally you have no way to file a suit in most cases since so much of the discovery process has been gutted, and any important documents you would need that once were discoverable are now “physicians privledge” This includes internal hospital investigations, physician reprimands, ect ect. THANKS RICK!!!! I don’t think our constitution should have “protected classes” Negligence is negligence…. For those of you that don’t know what negligence is here’s an analogy: You assume risk when you have a medical procedure performed everyone understands that , but if the doctor performing the procedure is on drugs and botches the surgery,or is not qualified thats negligence.
Think I’m kidding about the “on drugs”? True story, Houston doctor. Protected by tort reform.

Edwards certainly, maybe Richarson, Obama all oppose H1B, as does even Giuliani– seem like much better candidates. My friend used to be a big Hillary fan, now she hates Hillary due to H1B.

  43. Patricia A. Jones Says:

    Thank you, Mickey Mathis!
Once again, I’m outraged with Governor Perry’s actions. This man placed his hand on the Bible and swore an oath to God to uphold The Texas Constitution. The first few words of our Bill of Rights states that “all political power is inherent in the people”, yet, Governor Perry spends upwards of seven million dollars OF OUR MONEY on an advertising campaign to promote his Trans-Texas Corridor and Toll Road plans. You may have seen my newspaper ads in Ellis, Hill, Navarro, and McLennan Counties where I said the substitution of HB1892 to SB792 was a “bait and switch” scam. Now, by way of a conference call interview with Patrick Driscoll of the San Antonio Express-News, Ric Williamson (Chairman of the Texas Transportation Commission) says: “The moratorium doesn’t affect TTC-35. I don’t know what else to say”. So, according to this article (and I am quoting verbatim), construction of TTC-35 can move forward despite the will of the people of Texas. I take no pleasure in being right about SB792. I do, however, find Governor Perry guilty of not upholding the solemn oath he took as the Governor of Texas.

I have heard a rumor, and it’s just that, a rumor, that we are going to be in for a surprise on the ballot in November. We should be very wary because of this rumor. Wouldn’t it be just like him (The Great Deceiver) to somehow manage to shove something else under an amendment and have us vote for or against it the wrong way? Where there is smoke …. etc., etc.

Then, today, I read about Governor Perry signing on to H1B. How is it possible for him to continue to hold Texas hostage? Maybe Texas can take some small comfort in knowing there are at least twelve other raving mad men loose in our country. I wonder if Governor Perry’s medical plan includes the endless hours on a Psychiatrist’s couch that he so badly needs?

  44. DAVID KARL Says:

AS I HAVE ALWAYS RICK PERRY WON BY 39% OF THE VOTE.THIS MEANS HE REPRESENTS 39 OUT OF 100 TEXANS. NOT ENOUGH VOICE TO SPEAK FOR ALL TEXANS.

  45. Patricia A. Jones Says:

So, OK, it’s been all of six days since I read or heard something about Governor Perry that made my blood pressure rise. A friend called asking if I was watching the evening news. I missed the news tonight … unusual for me. It seems the Governor’s Mansion is going to be remodeled. While this is being done, Texas will pay his rent to the tune of $9,900.00 a month for him to live elsewhere. Hey there, Gov., the toll free number to Motel 6 is 1-888-466-8356.

TX Driver Responsibility Surcharge Program Petition-

    Many Thanks~
    Tamara Shippy
    tamarashippy@hotmail.com

This law (DRP) is a scam on the poor; the state is using a person’s DL, the key to a their lively hood and ability to hold a job, to extort money from Texas Drivers.

The additional fines for such offenses as missing one insurance payment, or having an expired Driver’s License defeat the purpose of the law itself (improving the number of drivers with this type of offense- the numbers have skyrocketed).

The additional punishment is not mentioned in the original court preceding, paperwork, or contract. There is no way to appeal them, or wave them, and the judge has no discretionary power to alleviate the cost to those who are financially devastated by the DRP.

If insurance is to be required by law, then the state should ensure that rates are affordable for every one. I will do everything in my power to have the DRP repealed in the next session.:)

Many people who fall into the Driver Responsibility Program are law abiding citizens who do pay their insurance or have maintained an updated license before. They are not habitual offenders. They are hardworking citizens who use their income strictly to pay for rent, electricity, water, health insurance, car insurance, home insurance, flood insurance, medical bills, gas, car maintenance/repair, food/groceries, school supplies, etc. If they fall behind on a payment for car insurance and then face a surcharge that is non-disputable, then the situation snowballs. Also, in TEXAS, relying on public transportation is extremely unrealistic.

    Great Study- http://www.nedlc.org/center/license.pdf

When proponents of the TTC decided to embark on a personal agenda in hopes of ensuring their legacy, they placed an unnecessary, unprecedented financial burden on Texas. The TTC will not relieve congestion in and around our states metropolitan areas; it will literally cut Texas in half. (Good luck to any living thing that tries to migrate across central Texas EVER again). Not to mention, the area underlying all of this is crucial land for so many reasons; this includes a large part of our ground water reservoirs and natural resources, as well as land crucial to the arming and agriculture communities.

If you live in NY or Chicago, you could actually survive/thrive and not drive. You would also not have to pay for car insurance. I think that it’s a shame that in Texas, you really do not have that option. Metro doesn’t go beyond city limits, and the costs of Taxis are outrageous.

Sidewalks are a part of our basic infrastructure and surprisingly there is an extreme lack of sidewalks that even lead from neighborhoods to the closest shopping/working areas.
    Sidewalk Project

Who receives money from the surcharges?
    TX DPS

Each surcharge collected by the department under this law will be remitted to the Comptroller, on a monthly basis. Trauma centers and county and regional emergency medical services will receive 49.5 percent of the collected money, and the Texas Mobility fund will receive 49.5 percent of the collected money. The money that goes to trauma centers will be handled by the Texas Department of Health, while the **Texas Department of Transportation ** will handle money going to the **Mobility fund**, which funds highway projects, including the **Trans-Texas Corridor**. The remaining one percent of the collected money will go to DPS for operation of the Driver Responsibility program.

The DRP legislation is engineered to generate revenue for the Trans-Texas Corridor. It was established to coincide with the law authorizing the TTC. A new report shows that we had plenty of funds to establish and maintain our highways and infrastructure.

Although some may argue that driving is a privilege, many areas, especially in the state of Texas, lack a reasonable mass transit system that connects suburbs to the metropolitan area.

Further examination reveals how license suspensions unfairly impact the poor and middle class citizens, while the wealthy are vaguely impacted. Traffic tickets punish drivers while richly rewarding the state and
Poor Texans the ones being hurt by increase in charges, Shapleigh says .

As for the economic aspect, suspending people’s license, especially for not paying fines that they cannot afford, prevents them from driving to work and making money- money that they would likely spend and contribute to the state’s economy. Filling our jails/prisons with non-violent, misdemeanor offenders will not solve the extreme overcrowding issues our criminal system is currently facing a major contributor to local jail overcrowding .

  47. Terry Says:

Wanted to share with you, just a quick note, as to why Texans
should get off their couch, stop watching government TV (i.e. Fox News et al) and speak
loudly about what is going on. Many Texans, born and raised in
Texas as well as transplants, realize now what the TX Corridor is all about. The
connection of Canada and Mexico, through the United States, for a
North American Union (and introduction of the “Amero” currency once the dollar is killed
off) has become evident but that was not necessarily the straw that broke the
camel’s back. Americans DO NOT favor a North American Union and would certainly want to be informed as to such considerations/agreements by our political servants that we elected. All these bills being approved while the consensus policy-makers are absent is rediculous. In fact, they don’t want a “funnel” created to penetrate deep into the US to Canada, they want to plug the hole up altogether. One only has to ask any person on the street - any citizen that is.

Truly, any US state Govenor that can endorse Rudy Giuliani for
President of the US must either have something very significant
to gain, perhaps jockeying for position in 2012 (maybe even 2008),
or maybe just really doesn’t sense what most other Americans
sense? Mr. Giuliani has taken his exceptional characteristics as portrayed by the
main stream media post 911. The reality is, according to his own NY constituents, is that he failed in so many ways prior, during and after the 911 events. These failings and peculiarities seem to elude the American TV sets. New Yorkers are not voting for him and they live there every day or their lives - why in the world would a Texas Govenor back him? Texas carries a lot of weight in the US and for Mr. Perry to endorse any or the candidates at this early point in the election process seems out of step with historical endorsement timing. Is Mr. Giuliani’s momentum slowing ?

Many, many Texans and Americans alike are now realizing the greater agenda. Should a campaign be run on a single platform; inserting the word “terror” in almost every sentence; setting the stage for additional rights to be taken from all Americans if Americans don’t educate themselves quickly.

Americans are very concerned with the obvious imperialistic agendas and Texans are surprised with the Govenor’s endorsement of RG. Has Govenor Perry been promised a role in the New World Order? Americans must wake up to the fact that policing the world, money-driven wars for profit and power and back-room politics has reach unmanageable proportions. One candidate out all of the 2008 GOPs and Dems has actually said something really logical - “we can’t afford this anymore…” Americans indeed want a great defense to deter any foe, take reasonable measaures to be protected against actual terror threats but Americans are not interested or willing to agree to give up ANY more freedoms.

    Americans are barely welcomed anywhere in the world anymore; the dollar is almost gone;
we’re spending way too much or our hard earned tax revenue on gov’t
contractors (world wide) who then funnel the money back as return of favor in one way or another. Do we really need so many bases all around the world? Is our central banking system in need of overhaul? The money spent on Iraq and the interest on our loaned money from the private central bank could pay for thousands upon thousand of college programs along with eliminating road tolls
and help with healthcare and so many things - $3 billion+ every day is rather
    significant.

So many issues and scams have been brought to the forefront over the past couple of years - really, more of the same??.

So the TX Corridor, the lack of ANY action by Rick Perry to do
anything on the TX/Mexico border, coupled with today’s Giuliani
endorsement which obviously lends itself to the New World Order
